2003-05-20 Summery Weather - Already? The weather we're having is totally amazing - sunny, warm summer-type weather for sure, without (thank god) the disgusting humidity that's almost guaranteed to come in late June to mid-August. Saturday we went up to Rawdon, did our usual errands (rented "Two Weeks' Notice" for evening viewing; not bad), and then I had a much-needed nap. I'm not really sure why I was so damn tired, what with being on vacation for the past couple of weeks, but I was. The nice thing was that it was much easier to beat back the guilt that always accompanies my decision to have a nap since I had no homework or other necessary work to do. When I got up, I made myself a coffee, and carried The Novel out onto my nanny's back deck while my parents and grandmother sat on the front porch. I was able to just write peacefully, listening to the birds chirping in the trees. Sunday saw a bit more writing, a bit more reading, and then we had to come back in despite the fact that Monday was a Canadian holiday (Victoria Day). My mom had to work since she deals with the States, so she'll have Memorial Day off. It was sad to leave when normally we could stay and live it up, but I just told myself that at least I wouldn't have to get up super early and head off to work like my poor mom. Today I didn't really do much of anything. A bit of writing here, a bit of reading there, interspersed with some web surfing and a few phone calls to people I haven't talked to in awhile. But I knew that I badly needed to get out of the house; last night I was trying to decide on what movie to watch, finding that none appealed to me because I didn't really WANT to stay in AGAIN. So I called Andrea and after dinner, I swung by her place to pick her up and go play some mini-golf. Surprisingly, I beat her by a little bit (I don't think I've ever won against anyone), and then we headed over to Dairy Queen for some ice cream. In all, the evening cost me ten bucks, and it meant I had some fresh air, some ice cream and great conversation with an old friend. So far I don't know what the plan is for tomorrow, but I suppose I should do a bit of cleaning for my mom, as well as some more job-hunting (woo). But for now, it's time to start thinking about bed.
