Trouble

Ah, finally a journal entry. Heh. There just hasn't been much time - I can usually only spare 5 minutes to put an entry up in my weblog at work. But today's entry can't written at work.

I'm not minding work so much now. The people are really great, and I get along with them well. We laugh a lot, it's getting busy for me, and that means happiness. It's still a little disconcerting to think that I could be doing this sort of thing for the rest of my life, but I'm forcing myself not to think about it. Besides, the money in the bank is kinda nice to see.

However. Yes, there's always an "however".

Over the past few weeks, I've noticed certain coworkers becoming more and more stressed. On Thursday, I finally got to talk to one of them when I drove her to the subway station. Apparently, some people in the shop that builds the stuff that gets installed in hotels, condos, etc. are making promises to clients that can't be kept. Shipments are late or don't get there at all, the jobs aren't completed on time, etc. Which makes for very unhappy clients. As there are contracts involved, the president of our company is worried that he'll be sued. And from what I can gather, the one condo project we're doing in Montreal (which the president had been hoping would lead to more projects in the city) is very close to crumbling.

All this to say that the company seems to be in trouble.

It could explain why I haven't been offered the job yet. I'm still considered temporary, still being paid by the placement agency.

I don't think I'll have to worry too much until after Xmas , but once the new year arrives, I think I'd better keep my eyes open. I've already emailed the placement agent I'm with to keep her eyes open for me come January. I don't want to suddenly be left out in the cold, you know?

Gah. Jobs.

***

I started my Xmas shopping today. My nanny came in this weekend to do hers since there aren't any decent stores up where she lives. We're hoping to go to a smaller (and quieter, thank the gods) mall tomorrow to get a few more things, but it depends on the weather. Today it was snowing and windy and cold, and the roads were pretty icy when we left to come home. The sky is clearing now, but I can hear the wind roaring outside, which makes me feel very cozy and warm in here.
